Puerto Madryn (en galés Porth Madryn) es una ciudad del noreste de la provincia del Chubut, Argentina, siendo la capital del departamento de Biedma. Se encuentra emplazada frente al Mar Argentino en el Océano Atlántico.

Es considerada la puerta de entrada a la Península Valdés, declarada en 1999 como Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad por la Unesco. Es uno de los centros de turismo más importantes de toda la región y del país, considerada asimismo como la capital nacional del buceo.

Las características de la zona permiten combinar salidas de aventura y exploración de fauna, donde la meseta patagónica y el mar se unen poniendo a prueba los cinco sentidos en un sólo abrazo de naturaleza.

La encantadora Patagonia se descubre a partir de la inmensa biodiversidad que encontramos en Madryn y sus alrededores; majestuosas ballenas, intrépidos lobos marinos, imponentes elefantes marinos, ágiles guanacos, elegantes flamencos y simpáticos pingüinos son sólo algunas de las maravillas que podes encontrar en tu visita.

Las ballenas se congregan para reproducirse y amamantar a sus crías a solo 15 kilómetros de la ciudad. A lo largo de los 25 kilómetros de costa ubicados entre Punta Arco y Cerro Prismático, podrás encontrarte con estos imponentes cetáceos a apenas unos pasos de distancia.
Caminar entre pingüinos es una de las excursiones más elegidas por los amantes de la naturaleza.

Punta Tombo, ubicada a 180 km al sur de Puerto Madryn, es una de las mayores reservas continentales de Pingüinos de Magallanes (Spheniscus magellanicus).

Península Valdés hoy alberga la mayor colonia reproductiva de Pingüino de Magallanes del mundo.

Los nidos se encuentran ubicados en las costas del golfo San Matías desde la Estancia San Lorenzo hasta Punta Norte, al igual que toda la costa e islas de Caleta Valdés.
Recorriendo la Península Valdés desde el medio y hacia el norte podemos encontrarnos con pingüinos en Punta Cantor, donde se sitúa un mirador público con una vista excepcional de la Caleta Valdés. Luego por el camino que bordea la costa llegamos a Punta Norte donde se encuentra la mayor concentración de pingüinos de Magallanes. Podemos ingresar a la colonia continental que más ha crecido en los últimos años a través de la Estancia San Lorenzo.

Lobos marinos, Se lo puede observar en la costa durante todo el año. En época de reproducción y cría se agrupan en apostaderos, tanto en playas con pendientes suaves de canto rodado, como en zonas rocosas. Durante la temporada invernal abandonan sus colonias para agruparse en apostaderos no reproductivos.

En Península Valdés se pueden observar grandes concentraciones de lobos marinos en Punta Norte, durante los meses de reproducción, a partir de octubre y hasta abril se concentra la mayor cantidad de ejemplares.

En Punta Pirámides a sólo 5 km de Puerto Pirámides se encuentra otra colonia de lobos marinos

Los lobitos marinos nos sorprenden con sus cabecitas muy cerquita de la embarcación, expectante, buscando descubrir quién será la primera persona que ingrese al agua a jugar con ellos. El juego lo proponen ellos y nosotros como espectadores nos adaptamos. El horario de la salida debe coordinarse teniendo en cuenta los hábitos naturales de estos simpáticos mamíferos, con lo cual se realiza temprano por la mañana, y/o cuando la marea está terminando de subir.

Puerto Madryn (Welsh: Porth Madryn) is a city in the northeastern province of Chubut, Argentina, the capital of the department of Biedma. It is located in front of the Argentine Sea in the Atlantic Ocean.

We can enter the continental colony that has grown the most in recent years through Estancia San Lorenzo.

Sea lions, You can observe it on the coast all year round. In breeding and breeding season they are grouped into bettors, both on beaches with gentle slopes of boulders, as well as in rocky areas. During the winter season they leave their colonies to group into non-reproductive bettors.

In The Valdés Peninsula, large concentrations of sea lions can be observed in Punta Norte, during the breeding months, from October and until April the largest number of specimens are concentrated.
